Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shakar was one of the American and British sitar artist. She received the British House of Commons' Shield as the youngest, and first female recipient. Apart from the nine Grammy awards She was also the first musician of Indian origin to be a presenter and performer at the award ceremony. Anoushka Shankar is among India's most promising stars on the sitar. She is a student as well as granddaughter of legendary Ravi Shankar. Her birthplace was London in 1982. During her first years she split in London New Delhi. When she was 13 she performed her debut performance on stage in New Delhi. After that, she moved into Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha is still a young woman, but she has a very impressive career in music and performance. Her father has been with her on numerous occasions for some time. The year 1998 saw her released Anourag as her first solo record. It was nominated for a Grammy Award. Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. The stage is a very large part of her career. She's performed at many major venues all over the globe. Anoushka Shankar's work isn't only limited to music. She released Bapi the love of my life in the year 2002. This is a picture biography that pays tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. Also, in films in 2003 she played the role in the film Dance Like a Man where she portrays an aspiring Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka is a native of England and spent a lot of her childhood split between London as well as Delhi. Then she moved to California and enrolled in high school. When she was 9 she began her studies in music alongside her father. Her debut performance on the sitar came at her 75th Birthday celebration in Delhi just four years later. Anoushka was able to gain a great deal of experience touring around the globe together with her dad. She appeared in Carnegie Hall in her teenage period, as well as recorded for George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. She was the youngest woman to be awarded the House of Commons Shield, awarded by British Parliament as recognition of her talent and musicianship in the Asian Arts.
